Vandenberg talks Moonkings
It is not a huge surprise that Adrian Vandenberg feels as if he has returned to square one. It has been seventeen years since the guitar player released an album. Even that was also an often overlooked collection of live recordings with the band Whitesnake.
It would be bizarre to know that former England football coach Steve McClaren is the person who brought back Adrian out of his self-imposed retirement. When Steve guided Adrian’s beloved FC Twente to their very first league title, the ex Whitesnake guitar player was asked to write and record a track to mark the occasion.
Adrian did, now you have Adrian’s Moonkings. The band is all set to release their debut album this week. Recently, in an interview, Adrian told that he wanted to stay away for a few years after they stopped with Whitesnake in the year 1999. That same year, his then girlfriend and he had a baby. When the baby was 3 year old, her mom and he split, and he did not want to be one of those who sticks his nose across the door a year just to say Hi. He wanted to see her all the time; therefore, he planned on adding a few more years to his break.
Speaking about his return to Whitesnake; he told that it appears like he is still has a great relationship with David Coverdale. The time they play in Holland, he always jump up and play few tracks with them. It is great to still have that old relationship. The first time when he met David was the time when he invited him to a Whitesnake gig in the year 1982. They hit it off right away.
